Practical guidance for handling and installing rubber matting, and a plain statement of what our products do and do not promise.
Handling
- Rolls and large mats are heavy. Use two people, or mechanical handling, and lift with your legs.
- Wear gloves when cutting. Use a sharp hooked rubber knife and cut away from your body on a safe surface.
- Keep fingers clear when interlocking tiles or seating a mat against a wall.
Installation
- Lay mats on a clean, dry, sound floor. Grit or standing water under a mat reduces its grip on the floor.
- Let rolled goods relax flat at room temperature for 24 to 48 hours before trimming or fastening.
- Butt edges together so there is no lip in a walking line, and keep mats clear of door swings and thresholds where they could trip someone.
- Check that doors, carts and pallet jacks still clear the installed thickness.
In use
- Inspect regularly for curled edges, tears or heavy wear and replace mats that no longer sit flat.
- Keep mats free of oil, grease and loose debris; a contaminated surface can become slippery regardless of tread.
- Match the compound to the chemicals present. Solvents, fuels and strong degreasers can degrade rubber.
Cleaning
Sweep or vacuum loose grit, then wash with water and a mild detergent using a deck brush. Rinse and allow to dry. Avoid solvent cleaners, high-temperature steam and aggressive degreasers.

Suitability for a particular floor, traffic, chemical environment or regulatory requirement is the buyer's decision — ask us in writing before ordering if a specific standard must be met.
